Modern Skills is seeking a Literacy Specialist (SLT) to spearhead school-wide literacy initiatives,

About the Role
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Literacy Specialist will lead the development
and execution of a strategic literacy framework that fosters high levels of reading, writing, and
comprehension skills among all students. With a strong emphasis on English as an Additional
Language (EAL) learners, this role will focus on embedding research-based literacy practices into
the curriculum, mentoring educators, and fostering a culture of academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive Literacy Attainment: Utilize data analytics to track and enhance student literacy levels
across all grades.
Lead Strategic Literacy Initiatives: Develop and implement a comprehensive literacy
strategy aligned with the school’s vision.
Professional Development & Mentoring: Provide coaching and training for teachers to
integrate evidence-based literacy instruction.
Culturally Responsive Pedagogy: Ensure literacy programs reflect the diverse backgrounds
of students, engaging them through relevant themes and interests.
Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with parents, teachers, and external organizations
to build a robust literacy culture.
What We’re Looking for:
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field (preferred);
Bachelor’s Degree in Education (required).
Experience: Proven leadership experience in literacy development, instructional coaching,
and EAL strategies.
Skills: Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills with a passion for literacy
education.
